Headed out in pristine conditions on Wednesday to find some blue water and toss the lures in. Seas were mild with a 2-5' lazy roll with a 1' wind chop on top. We headed S of Jones ~ 60+ miles to find nothing but porpoises and sunfish. From there ~ we turned 180 degrees, heading back towards the JI ~ and found nice 75.2 degree water ~ some 35 miles from home.

Within minutes ~ we had life ~ birds ~ turtles ~ sunfish ~ bait ~ etc. Twenty minutes later ~ our first football. As we were realing the rat in ~ a large unknown specie (wink ~ wink ~ a mako) went airborne 50 feet from the bow! All we saw was the splash ~ about the size of a Hyundai! Another 20 minutes ~ a nice 20 pound bull dolphin. 10 minutes later ~ our first keeper BFT ~ about 30 pounds. We ended the day with 6 BFT up to 30 pounds and that nice mahi for the grill.

The fish hit every lure in the spread ~ from tiny jetheads to big daisy chains.

Nice going Mako. Good report. I'm glad to hear about Mahi being caught on the troll around here.

Ian, great report, congrats.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Wondering when you are inviting me and Bondo out on the Rainbow.
