Cracked a very messy inlet at daybreak w/Kodfish Kenny & Gus/Toutog to find the birds going nuts right inside the pocket behind the jetty, in tight - almost on the beach in 16' of water. Must have pulled at least a dozen shorts in about 20 minutes before the really nasty conditions forced us to move off.
BTW - where were all the surfcasters? These fish were in easy casting from shore and I'm sure if anyone wanted to play C&R they could have easily slayed them right from the sand.
From there ran to the West thru a very snotty ocean to a nice piece in 62' - worked real hard to put together a catch of 10 decent fish to 6.5lbs. Gus got the big one, as always.
I think these fish have probably begun to move deep - next week we go to Joisey.
still making great reports. fished sunday from the 3rd wantagh to amity cut drifted the whole way had to start the engine up a few trimes to move off but a really fast drift /slow troll didnt matter no hookups . good luck ken
I must have missed them by an hour or so, I chcked out behind the JB Coast Guard before WE2 around 11:45am, nothing doing at that time, nary a bird.
Did see a few boats in the inlet on my way back home around 4:00.
