"Match The Hatch" is still the best method for catching bass.I was talking to a "sharpie" who seems to always go home with the limit and he doesn't fish any other way. Goes out looking for bunker, herring or shad pods and snaggs 'em with a treble. Then he goes to a known hole and livelines them. The same method is used on the North shore for bluefish. The key is to know where the pods are or be willing to scout them out which could take a lot of time and gas, but if you want to be successful, I guess sacrifices have to be made. If you fish for the table, it's worth it. Personally I just love being out there and going home with fish is icing.
