Report location New York > Fire Island > Deep Fluke (shark shallow)
Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

On Sunday I took my boat out the Fire Island inlet. While it was foggy I decided to stay close to shore and went to the pipe off of Cedar Beach. Almost immediately I had a small shark on (Dusky Shark?...Brown Shark?). I got it up to the boat a few times, but because it was on a fluke rig I lost it. Great Fight!

As the fog cleared I headed about 10 miles off to a wreck, where I caught a 21 inch fluke and a 15 inch sea bass.

Later the wind picked up, so I headed in to the FI Reef, where I got a lot of bites, but couldn't hook 'em. It must have been something small.

Over all it was a great day to be out.

21" Fluck and 15" Sea Bass
