(This is a late report... I tried to post several times but the site was not working).

I had to lay off fishing for a bit due to some painful, bulging disks. Physical therapy twice weekly seems to be helping, so I have eased back into fishing over the last couple of weeks, always with a crew who can do the bulk of the lifting. Last Wednesday I took out my friend Andy, who is about to move away for further education. I told him that due to my back, he was doing all the reeling unless we had a double hookup.

We were slow-trolling black/red T-Man tubes on two rods just before high tide. Andy landed 3 bass up to 25 pounds (ORL). He hooked up again and started fighting the fish. Before I could clear the second line, it hooked up to a nice fish. I grabbed the rod and fought the fish. It took over 330 feet of 50 lb. braid, down almost to my monofilament backing before I managed to regain line. The fish finally came to the net and measured out at 46" long and 45 pounds. The sore back was worth it this time.

Dustin came along for a follow-up trip on Thursday and landed a 37-pound beast on a homemade black and red tube, to go with a pair of 25-pounders and multiple fish in the teens.
