I wanted to really put some time into fluke fishing today but I knew the wind would be an issue. When I got out the drift was too fast so I anchored up to fish for porgies until the wind subsided. The porgy bite was very slow. I only caught two; a small keeper and a fat 15 inch hub cap. I did hower achieve the out of season trifecta catching several sea bass, a flounder and a blackfish.

When the wind did lay down I shifted gears to fluke. I only spent about an hour and a half on them but they were hungry. I drifted in 18 to 35 feet of water and had a great bite. I got two 22 inch flatties (one was released) and a 24 inch doormat. I had one short and lost a big fish half way up. Squid and spearing combos worked the best. I’m looking forward to some Father’s Day fluke action. Until Sunday... tight lines!
