Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

Finally got out today with my younger son,the boat needed a cleaning but we decided to go fishing instead, 8 am,put the boat in the water at Milford boat launch and headed out to can 7, motor was acting up so I wanted to make sure it was running right before we headed over.

We broke the no wake zone and my son proceeded to throttle up but the motor wasn't having it, it was bogging ,cutting in and out then it seemed fine and would repeat several times before it finally seem to run on all cylinders.

After running wide open for 20 minutes and no stalling ,bucking or bogging we headed over to can 7 north shore. ON the way over we spotted multiple schools of bunker. the closer we got to can 7 the worse the visibility got.

Following my gps to the can 7 waypoint was a little nerve wracking for sure.

We arrived at our destination but unable to find the can.

We started to fish the area in hopes that the fog would burn off and give us line of sight as to where we were.

10 mins. into fishing my son nails a nice 22 in. fluke.

Then a couple of shorts and another nice fat 19 1/2 " specimen.

We had no drift but my son was kicking my azz.

The fog started to break a couple of hours later allowing us to get our bearings.

We caught short after short and had a lull till the tide started to move again.

My son gets a hit and tags a progie that measured out over 16 ins. I have never seen porgies in the sound that big before.

So we fished in the rain and we limited out on fluke

from 19 1/2 to 22 inches. My son got some huge porgies 16 inches plus.

Cocktails blues moved in so we switched over to spinners and had fun for about 30 mins.

Headed back to the barn and was home by 6pm.

Motor was still acting up, not sure whats going on, but high speeds she runs fine, low rpms it stalls and sputters. HPDI's they either run good or they don't.

some pics of our trip, on pic shows my sons sneaker next to the porgy , he wears a size 15.

More Porgies

19 1/2 in fluke

Nice job connecting on the fish. I had the same exact problem with my boat this year. Ethanol ultimately messes up your fuel filters. Gotta clean 'em or change them out.
