Got out last night around 8:30 to great conditions.

I had a good run of fish last week , through Friday night. Nothing huge but a nice consistent bite.

Saturday, around sundown, I missed out on fish blitzing the beach while doing the Halloween thing with my boy. No worries though, I figured I was in for a banner night Saturday night after the game. I figured wrong. It was as if someone flipped a switch. Put in a pretty long session without so much as a tap for the first 3 hours or so. I wound up having one hit and landed the smallest bass I had ever caught. You know the saying- " I was born at night but I wasn't born last night"? I think the bass I caught actually was born the previous night ,it was so small.

Got out again Sunday for sundown, this time- not even a single tap. Last night I was hoping another body of fish moved in. Conditions were excellent and I had a hit on my second cast, in close to the beach- missed it.

An hour later that was the only hit.

Hooked up with a couple of buddies ( always a pleasure) and wound up down at my old haunts.

I hadn't been down that way in a looooonnngggg time.

I headed for the spot where I caught my first bass, my first keeper and my biggest fish. After about 20 casts, not a touch. I was getting ready to go back and hook back up with my friends when I heaved out on more cast-- I said out loud " cmon- how about one for old times sake" . It's hard to believe but wouldn't you know it? I got drilled. The words were barley clear of my lips when the fish hit. Fish slammed my lure about half way in and gave a h e l l of a fight. Lots of jumps, a little line peeling, headed for the rocks. After a fun fight I beached a nice , healthy, 30" fish. I wouldn't have believed it if it didn't happen to me. Quick pic and sent her off. I let her go shaking my head in disbelief. I must have taken over a hundred casts without a tap- until that very moment. I still can't really believe it. Some coincidence.

Almost 2 hours later, that was still the only fish or hit I had. I finished up in my new haunts, with a solid schioolie at my last stop before calling it a night. Both fish took the mag darter. Expected to have a banner night catching- I did- even though I just landed the 2 fish. Strange happenings indeed.
