Fished Jbay out to the cans on a NS boat for fluke today.

Managed one legal fluke, gulp white mullet as teaser and peanut bunker on bottom bucktail jig.

At the end of the day, I was thinking about Noreast and what it has come to mean to a lot of us.

Thinking about how some members consistently give their all -

1. unselfishly giving support when others post reports...

2. always posting encouragement.....

3. Always with a kind word or funny story........

Do you folks know which member came to mind when I was thinking these thoughts?

None other than our fellow Noreaster Mojoe....

Most of ya's know...but some may not know....

Mojoe got a new motor for that old boat of his....
and has had nothing but trouble....
Missed out on half of the fluke season......

Anyone who has ever come across him on the water...
Knows the old fart loves to fish....
And he and the other old farts have been sidelined.....

Watching the video he posted the other day...of him and his wife Maureen fishing at the dock...chasing that eel between the planks.....really got to me.....

I thought about the thousands of reports I have read here over the years...and how Mojoe's positive comments usually end up on 99% of those reports.....

sometimes he's the only Noreaster who takes the time to lend his words of encouragement when someone posts....
Because that's the kind of guy he is.
....

Joe was one of the only Noreasters to remind us of the passing of the beloved Bobby Waldbaums....Joe took the time to post those videos....to honor another angler who was a fixture of entetainment here...while he was still alive.... (RIP Bobby)

I was just wondering.....with all the people taking their own boats out to search for fluke and sea bass.....fishing hard.......

If within the family of Noreasters....there isn't one Generous fisherman....or maybe a few.....
Who might offer to take Joe out....for a few hours......so he can be on the water, doing something that he loves.

When Joe reads this...he's probably going to be mad at me....
He's a real humble guy...very independent........
He'll say he doesn't need charity....he's happy as he is....
But I do believe...he would be a lot happier if he could actually get out on the water....and get a few hours practice to regain his title of Rocker Queen. Toungue

So, if anyone reading this....has a spare spot on an upcoming trip...
Why not think about reaching out to the old fart Mojoe. Smile....(even if he tells ya he doesn't want to go)......give him some options to fish....until he gets that damn motor back!....and he's back on his beloved Mojoe skiff....

Sorry for the report hijack....
I just felt he gives a lot...more than most....and if anyone deserved to be asked to join on a fishing trip.....if there is extra space.....
It would be our fishing brother Mojoe up

Thanks for reading....and best wishes for the season to All.Shades

Great Post

I never met Joe, but fished with Bobby Waldbaums many years ago when he was healthy on the Flamingo. Really nice guy. So sad to hear about his death. I lost a dear friend years ago Philip, Philip was my friend my fishing partner, He died too younfg from cancer. He helped me many years ago from a painful divorce. God bless you Phil and Bobby.

Thanks so much for the kind words and comments, people....they are appreciated. Smile
I still need to remind us...the reason for my comments here....

I was hoping there might be at least ONE Noreaster....

Who might read this....and be able to take Joe out....for a few hours of fluke fishing.......(Hey, if you have space for him and his lovely wife Maureen all the better....)Shades
No one is obligated...we all have our own lives to lead......
Maybe some have reached out to him....and there is already a trip being planned.....If so, thank you...up

But in case there isn't....
Can't we reach into our hearts...
And see if we can dig deep.....to get Joe out fishing...until he's back again on his own boat?

Thanks for any help you can offer, people.....
You can PM him...or I have his number if anyone wants to reach out to him directly.....up

Added Bonus:

Some of you may know that Joe is the "Rocker Queen" of JBay...Toungue
(no hidden meanings in that phrase there.....it simply means that whenever he fishes...he's most likely to catch all the sea robins in the area...)

So if you were to take him out.....
He would likely catch all the bait stealing sea robins...leaving all the keeper fluke to you to catch.....Smile

Food for thought....
Think about it....
And will someone please step up...and offer to take the old fart fishing? up
Thanks! up

Thanks all the kind words about me, people.
But it really wasn't about me.
I'm just a googan with a white bucket.

A degenerate fisherman who sleeps in his vehicle and takes hobo showers in dirty gas stations to follow the fish when they are around. surprise
People say they can only fish with me if fishing upwind...because there are times when I smell really, really bad...that's why I like the solitude of fishing alone....Toungue

I couldn't help making those observations about Mojoe..and the other old farts he fishes with (Howdy Fisherman George! That was a beautiful statement you made about a good friend....well-said!)

I have gotten to know Joe over the years, and my words and statements about him were all true. He is definitely one of the elder statesmen of Noreast. And an all-around stand up guy. up
Without his comments, more than half of the fishing reports on tbis site would have no responses.

So I decided to try a social experiment....get someone to take him fishing.....
And out of all....no one stepped up beyond the posts here, no one contacted him in private.....

BTW, thanks to all who did, especially the guy from KFA (Great group, BTW) who offered to lend him a kayak.

I learned a valuable lesson in humanity here....Smile
And the society which we are currently living in....up

darkskies(pilot) pm reply to me (DOM) but today i had to work

Hi Capt. Mojoe,
I'm the guy you bailed out last year when I needed a lift to my boat off the corner of Kingsborough College. Just found out that you're landlocked and need a ride. I'm going out tomr on my boat located behind Toys R Us, Flatbush Ave. Let me know - your crew is also welcome.

Dom.

Lesson Learned....

decided maybe I was looking at this wrong....

so I thought about checking the reports, and seeing who was posting in the reports section here....

RESULTS:
I checked the last 4 pages....100 reports..

23 of them were from private boats, or members fishing on private boats, or reporting on charter trips they took.

About 5 were surf reports.

This puts the rest (mostly) of reports posted on here, roughly 70 out of 100, from Charter Boats, Party Boats, and anyone who is a sponsor here and wants to increase their business.
All that is understandable. If you own a business and don't promote it, you are dead and will fade out.

Let's look at these stats (I realize it's the summer, and Fall or Spring results might be different...this is not as scientific as it could be, just a quick observation)....but as of 8-14-15..some interesting stats......

1. About 23% of all the posted reports are from Noreast individual members.
2. About 70% of all posted reports were from Charters, Party Boats, or someone looking to promote their businesses.
3. About 7% of all reports were surf or kayak reports.

Someone said to me....

A. Noreast has changed from the great site it used to be about 6 years ago....
B. regular members don't post anymore here, like they used to.

I would have to agree with the person who said the above to me....
Noreast is nothing like it used to be....
I had expectations because I remembered the community from how it was years ago......this is no longer that community....folks have deserted Noreast in droves, if you consisder the mix of people who now post here.

So I learned that I can't feel bad that no one offered to take Mojoe fishing.....(besides Capt Dom)

since there are not that many people here...as shown by lack of report participation.....

Again...lesson learned for me...
And best wishes to all for a Great Fall Season...upSmile
