Well, it's been a while since I've posted a report. My shoulder is still not right and except for a few times just heading down to walk and maybe take a cast or two- I haven't been out all Spring. Thursday night I decided to get out and give it a go. I got down to nice conditions, no real weed issues, good surf and a slight S wind. About 15 minutes in I got hit right as I was about to pull my plug out of the water. Scared the h e l l out of me. After a quick, feisty fight I landed a nice schoolie. Quick pic and released. For the next 2 hours I had a decent pic of fish to just about keep size. All fish hit right at the beach. 3 took the plug, two took the teaser- all released.

Went 5 for 5 on hits.

Shoulder didn't feel too bad Friday night so decided to give it another go.

No wind, pretty calm conditions- ran into a bit more weed. About 15 minutes in, at the same spot I got my first fish Thursday night, while finishing a retrieve I got drilled right at the beach. Fish caused a big ruckus in the shallow water-- jumping , head thrashing then line peeling towards deeper water. Right as I got her turned the dreaded- TINK- pulled the hook. After going 5 for 5 the night before , of course I dropped my first big fish of the year. Stayed in the spot and a few casts later- same scenario. Right at the beach, got drilled. Only difference was smaller fish. Fish hammered it at the beach, lots of jumps and head shakes but not big enough to peel much line. Got it to the beach and looked about keeper size. Quick pic and released. Fish took the plug. Over the next two hours only had two more hits- both schoolies. One on the teaser one on the plug. Tried for a three peat Saturday night but got out and my reel was a little cranky and shoulder was barking. Fished for an hour for no hits and called it a night ( and sadly probably a Spring). Oh well- it was great to be back out there hunting again. Hope to be back at it in the Fall. Good luck out there everyone.

Nice going Tom you caught the same amount of schoolies in 1 trip which took me 4 trips to get. There were many skunk trips inbetween as well but by no means am I going to quit, heading out tonight with high hopes.

Nice effort and report Tom.....many people over on our side have given up for bass at night.....because the numbers are down so much, and there is no consistency for most areas.....
What little consistency we had was killed by all the beach replenishment...
The few areas that are producing are because of large bunker schools..
Even so, the majority of the bunker schools are holding no fish at is needle in the haystack fishing,. and many have given up.... you experienced, there are a handful of areas where there is a high concentration of sand crabs,,,,the fish seem to be coming into the beach lip and feeding on these at night.....

Sorry to hear about your shoulder....but good to read your reports again..
Best wishes for good times with your family and son...up

When you get a chance call or text me...I lost a lot of numbers when my phone got wet last year....

Take care,,,,,don't push it too hard....and best of luck....

Tom, it's always a comfort for me more than I can say when I see you posting. Nice report as always and thanks for sharing, and the I site You've given me last season.

I truly pray your shoulder gets better before the fall run. It must be hard not being able to fish. Get well.

If you ask me why do I go fishing the answer will always be I'm a Antoine, Antoines go fishing!
