Report location New York > Western South Shore
Fishing method Surf
« Previous Report Next Report »

Finally got a chance fish last Sunday night for few hours ..Incoming to high tide with some moderate wind and overcast. All cookie-cutter nothing big, had few solid run off but no hookup, action was steady all way to end. Winds pick up at the end called a night, all the fish safely released. Had a good time & good fishing with alex & peter. Until then, tight line……!!!!

You are new here otherwise you would have seen the total chaos that erupted following a certain sand eel bite a few years back when such locations were posted. if I had to guess, the OP (Western south Shore is in the Rockaways area. Central South Shore is usually Fire Island. where that leaves Jones beach and my town beach between the two is beyond me. and pictures that have an identifiable landmark (jetty, lighthouse, pavillion, etc. will be eliminated by the mods.)
Note: this is for your own protection, similar to not allowing you to have concealed carry in NY unless you are Robert Deniro or Donald Trump.

Thanks for the reply!! That last part was pretty funny (Trump) I am not new to the site, probably reading reports for about 15 years. Just a silent observer. I do recall some people posting direct locations in the past and then all hell breaking loose. They would get bashed!! I certainly understand you shouldn't do that. Just a general idea, like I said. I'm not even sure when someone says western south shore they are being honest or what their interpretation of western south shore is. That's why I prefer seeing LB area or AB area. Some people still do it. Anyway, I know one thing I will be giving the western south shore a shot this weekend Smile

I caught one lousy keeper my entire third season at it, about ten years ago, and posted it was at Tobay. Some guy said we would be swamped with googans which of course didn't happen. so I replied that for anyone interested it was 57 feet west of the east tunnel, on a cast of 53 yards to the southsouthwest, with a Hopkins shorty tin and white bucktail hair tied with red thread and covered with fingernail hardener. ( I had already given the wind speed, direction, height of the surf, cloud cover, water and air temperature, time of day and tide.) Got a lot of laughs but that was ten years ago when most people still had a sense of humor.

Should have seen this guy's comments on my YouTube page, too bad he took them all down. Was easy to put two and two together. Easier then catching Robert Durst mispelling Beverly.

[quote=flee16]The last few years reading reports here has been very frustrating. Most people are so paranoid about giving up a location. People don't have to say exactly where they are. General location like Long Beach area, Atlantic Beach or east of Jones Beach. I think that's vague enough. I kind of thought the whole idea behind posting a report is to give people a rough idea where the fish are. [/quote my friend they are lying to you the we're fishing in the Gowanus canal Shades
