Fishing method Surf

The vast majority of the time , my main objective when I go fishing is to go fishing. Last night my main objective was to break the 11 plus hour skunk I'd been wearing. I originally wanted to get out by 7pm to catch the tide but my wife had other ideas. After picking up my wife and playing chauffeur , then taking her and my boy for a bite to eat ( also signed up for a local tourny this weekend) I got home around 8:30. I grabbed my stuff and ran down to great surf conditions but an already falling tide. Wind was a stiff W/SW and NO WEEDS. I noticed yesterday morning that the water clarity had cleared up so I thought I'd have a great shot at breaking the skunk last night. Instead of working the open beach I decided to go to what I know best- working the jetties. Even though the tide was already down ,I knew I could find some pockets of water to fish. First stop, throwing an SP , I worked a great looking pocket for not a touch. Next stop , worked one side of a jetty for nothing. Moved to the other side and after about 10 casts into some great looking water with not a tap I was ready to head to my next stop. Decided to throw one more right into a little pocket close to the shore and after a few cranks got drilled. Almost pulled the fish right out of the water setting the hook I was so anxious- lol. Thankfully I didn't rip his lips or head off with my hook set and after a good, quick fight I got a thick schoolie onto the beach-fish took the teaser- skunk gone. Quick pic and released. I worked a few more areas with the SP for no hits then worked my way home with a needle for no hits. Tide was gone and my objective was met so headed up . Tonight I'll go fishing again.
