Got out again late yesterday. My cuz who moved to TX came back to NY and wanted to get on some fish, so my pal Ryan picked up some bait from Cow Harbor BnT and we headed to the ramp.

Motor out about 6pm and went right to a spot in 60 ft. 2nd half of the incoming tide and a SE breeze had everything working right. Sent the chunks down and waited, and waited, and waited. Cut up some older bunker, and waited..rebaited and waited.

Finally, around 7:30,the action picked up. We missed a blue that ripped the bait off. About 10 mins later, we had a nice run, and Shawn set the hook. Fish went under the boat, and tried to get the line tangled in the outdrive. It was close, but we fished it out and the fight resumed until we saw the fish near the boat. Break out the net, let it swim alittle more until we were ready, and I scooped the bass in and Shawn had his keeper. Nice 34 inch bass.

Only one other fish before we called it a night, a nice sized blue, but the real surprise was a giant sea turtle that swam by. It's head was enormous, and we estimate to be atleast 2-300 lbs. I've seen large turtles offshore, and this one was bigger as it swam about 30 ft from the bow. Unreal.

Called it a night at sunset, and filleted the fish back at the ramp.

Hopefully the fish hang around a little longer.

Thanks for the report.
Good job on the keeper.
I was planning on going the last 2 evenings, but I know its been slow and so I just said nah. Tide has been perfect in the area however.

thanks gents.

Been going about once a week...with a keeper each trip.

If the wind and tide work together, and I get the OK from the boss, I'm going. The bass aren't going to hang around much longer, but this cool summer has definitely helped.

Hopefully, my pal got a pic of that turtle.

Nice report. Glad some stripers still hanging around. Will be battling the winds all weekend for the WICC so hopefully the action sticks. Maybe this is the worst of the summer doldrums and we'll have a nice early and long fall run. Tight lines -Dan
