Report location New York > Fire Island > Bottom Fishing on the Laura Lee
Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

Fished Monday morning aboard the Laura Lee for some seabass and porgies. Great weather and people, and non stop fishing. Since it's the fastest boat in Captree, we were fishing the grounds first and left last; an extra 30 minutes of fishing time than the old boat or any other. Non stop little fish with keepers mixed in, some eels, sharks, pollack, and more came over the rails too, Bunker around the area. I ended up catching about 25 seabass up to around 2 pounds(all released including a bunch of keepers since I was feeling nice) and about 10 keeper porgies to almost 3 pounds along with some minor species. Great day on the water, very relaxing time out. The guy about 4 rods down had a seabass around 4.5 pounds but didn't enter the pool!

Sounds like a fun time.

The moth looks like a type Luna Moth. I've seen them up in Maine, look similar to that one.
