brianny was kind enough to give me an invite to go on the hunt for some trophies today, we left the barn at 430 am and broke the inlet at about 5am, we found some pods and one was getting worked real well, it took about 3 seconds for brian to snag a bunker and it was inhaled almost instantly , brian fought him to the boat and we landed the bass and came in at about 44lbs on the boga, fish was revived and swam away to live another day, then i landed and released one in the high thirties, this went on for like an hour to hour and a half, the highlight of the morning was when i had a runoff and came tight on a fish, the fish made some strong runs almost taking me into my backing, brian and i thought this was a huge huge fish, only to find out i had foul hooked this fish in the belly, it was like fighting a freight train, now the sad part, we really wanted to release this fish which came in at 47lbs, but it had a 4 inch tear into his stomach and was bleeding profusely, brian and i were saddened that this fish was not gonna make it, this one had to go to the table, once again thanks brian for the invite and great times with great laughs, with great friends, thats what its all about, if you want a great day on the water with big fish look brian up at reel obsession charters, you wont be sorry.

Great job! That does suck that the fish could not swim another day. Glad to hear the trip was filled with action.

Love the release. Someone a couple years a ago told me that the boga grip can really mess up the jaw of the bass. All of the weight pinpointed there.
I now just take the length and get a approximation off the conversion chart. Others have created a sling out of a towel to put the fish on, then hook the boga into that.

Either way, awesome job.

Yes, thanks for being considerate and releasing. We all should have that attitude.

Very nice fish Carl it is amazing that you caught a fish that close to 50 lbs and you are so worried about not being able to release the fish I would be so excited to catch a fish that big congrats.
