On Saturday June 14th 2014 the Smithtown Bay Yacht Club hosted the 6th annual Soldiers on the Sound event. It was once again a HUGE success! Our club had 58 boats that volunteered to participate. The captains generously donated their time, boats, fuel, rods, tackle, and know-how to take Active Duty Military Personnel and honored Veterans fishing. We had about 130 members of the 106th participate. We even had a special appearance by none other than Noreast’s own Capt. Neil! It was a pleasure.

Finally,

I was able to make this trip. What a hoot! I had such a good time. At 10 AM all the vessels were laying toneqr Porpoise Channel waiting for the gun to go off. When it did these capts put the pedal to the metal racing for their first drop. Each boat had an American flag or two flying above. They were starched as the boats races in all directions. Very emotional!

It was a long day and the Smithtown Bay Yacht Club deserves a BIG "Well Done".

Thank you for inviting me.
