Well what a grand day it was to go fishing with military veteran's and those on active duty! Today, FLAG DAY, was the Smithtown Fishing Club's Soldier's on the Sound Fishing Tournament. They hold this tournament every year and I was able to attend. Over 50 member's vessels were entered and I heard that over 130 active military and vet's were on board.

At 10AM after the gun went off all these boats are screaming to their first drop. What a wonderful sight. Each vessel had a big American Flag on display and the sight of all these flags flying starched out was fantastic.

Weigh in was at 1530 and the pool winner was over 6 lbs. We had 6 keepers on our boat. The numbers of fluke caught was very impressive. The catch on each vessel varied. A good time was had by all.

This was the first part of the day. When we came back to the dock and club house the ladies and helpers had loads of delicious food waiting for us. Oh, they provided breakfast for us also. Good coffee and the home baked pound cake was the tastiest I have ever eaten. Boy, did a tasty hot dog and hamburger taste good to me with a cold draft beer. There were tables of other foods to eat.

Next came the raffles. You can not believe the gifts that were being raffled off. Being exhausted I excuse myself and headed home.

All I can add is, CH 12 where were you? Showing what the STFC did for our military people should have been on TV. This is so much better than the horror stories they cover daily. You blew a wonderful opportunity to show good being done.

Thank you all that you did folks. You made GOD smile today!

Sorry I forgot this.

There were 4 young Marines present to present the Flag just before the vessels left the dock. Also 4 members of the Nassau County Emerald Society played music for us during the dinner and festivities.

It was a pleasure seeing you Capt. Neil. We are SO happy that you enjoyed the event. I've been busy (and a touch exhausted) but I plan on making a full report tomorrow.

Thanks again for your support over the last several years. We appreciate it! up
