SB ~Foggy Return to Clearing Sky ~ 5-10-14

Returned home late fri night from NJ

Even though I was spent ... i decided to get up early and take the boat out last minute in the AM

Woke to foggy conditions ... Fitting considering everything

so many friends I wanted to call but no time..and maybe it is just best to go alone for today....Threw the gear together and got to the water and underway 1hr before high tide 751

High 851 am

Water 50-57

Air 54-70

Wind Ssw @ 5-10

The fog wasn't really that bad at all only really lasted for an hour and visibility was better than on land..

Decided that today would be the day i Navigate a different way ... Probably not a great idea.. But sometimes you gotta just venture into new water

Scrapped the bottom pretty good once - was very close to getting hung up but I made it through with some luck and skill ...

Tried a few new spots because of the new nav

But not that promising ...

Had one spot in mind but decided to stop early because i had a half hr

Really glad I did --- 1st cast fish on and on and on

10 casts in a row 10 bass -- ( 15-21")

Found a great bite but I really wanted to continue on...

breaking a rule

..Never leave fish to find fish..but I did

Even though should have stayed for the hot bite

I still had a good day nothing big but fairly consistent

I was in my own world for awhile and didnt even notice a small boat fishing next to me..

asked what I was 1st Said just "secrets"..but after talking alittle bit..did a 180 and Took some time to talk, floated hull to hull and exchanged some advice

/ info as well as a hand full of lures as a spring gift .. really glad I did , the daughter

She is a WMHS fishing club member as well as a photographer....Perfect....

Shared as much as I could and then went our separate ways..

Had a such great time talking with them - that I Didn't notice The winds changed to wind against ..the bite really shut down .. Had a few more hits and an on/off fish but that was it..

Had enough called it a good day under a now bright sun at noon

Total :

19 school bass ( 14-23")

Only one fish 23" the rest were 18-20"

4-5 fish on - off

10 + missed bites

- Treated my self to a Sustain this season.yolo

- Happy B-day to my Other sister today ~ 46

- many many big jelly fish

- more and more terns showing up as well as other shore birds each trip..

Back home in time to get the 1st mow of spring in right before a long line of t-storms blew in..

Bringing some near 80 degree beautiful weather right behind it.

For now, the fog has lifted and clear sky ahead..

Great report. Glad to hear that the "fog" lifted some. Also appreciate how you stopped to chat with the other boater and his daughter. We would all do well to follow your lead and be a little less competitive-with discretion of course--since we've all benefitted from someone else's generosity along the way. Hope to see you out there sometime.

Always enjoy your posts and your photos are magnificent.

I know it's the photographer and not the camera, but I am curious to know what you are shooting with.

Tight lines.....
