I woke up yesterday and walked outside and immediately started trying to figure out how I could get out of work and spend some time fishing. Through the years- 60 degree- foggy December days have been great for me. Dropped my boy off at the sitters house- got to my office and knew I wasn't going to make it. BUMMER!

So figured I'd put in a long session last night. After dinner and quick hang with my son I decided to drive 2 miles west to my old haunts. I haven't gotten down there too often this year and the couple of times I did, by the time I fished my way there- I had the long walk back so never put in much time. I parked at my old building and walked down to a jetty that I caught my first striper and my first keeper, my biggest fish and countless others. I realized I'm still much more confident fishing these jetties than I am my "new" jetties of the past year and a half. Top of the tide, stiff S,SE wind, excellent surf. Walked into the surf and tossed a bottle plug right into a " go to" spot - WEEDS. UGGGGG!!! It wasn't unfishable bad, but bad enough. I worked the jetty for about 10 minutes for not a touch. Started working east a bit , hitting more weeds and some cleaner areas. Hooked up with Acenomics ( always a pleasure ) and we worked a bunch of areas for nothing more then lots of weeds. Two years ago we had some banner December nights in the area but wasn't happening last night. I worked my way back east throwing the bottle and an x-rap . Thought I had a bump once or twice but might have been just wishful thinking. Wrapped it up around 11:30 after 3 plus hours of casting. I'll probably get out once or twice more just to stretch my legs and make sure no late season bigger fish try sneaking by , but long sessions won't happen unless some fish show up. Still feel like i missed out on a good afternoon session yesterday.

Thanks for posting. You're a true die hard. It might be over where we fish, but it's not only about catching, is it? It's still good to be out. Catching fish might require an excursion west and south.
