Once again, I couldn't go fishing on a beautiful saturday, but I did manage to stop by Cow Harbor and Phil hooked me up with 6 dozen crabs that were destined to die on sunday morning.

Rob and Tom met up early sunday AM and we were off to the ramp...only to find the gates locked! The line was 5 boats deep, and no one was happy, but 10 minutes later, the parade of trailers were heading to the water.

NOAA predicted SE 5-10...broke the inlet to the Sound to find NE 10 kts...not horrible but not what we expected. Motored out to a new spot for us. Rob dropped the hook and let us back on the piece. I debated re setting because I thought we were close, but not close I sent a baited hook down....right away, we had life, so we left the anchor alone and started fishing.

Nice sticky piece held lots of decent togs..ofcourse most were 10-14 inches, but Tommy started the party with a healthy 17 incher on a spinning outfit. He followed that up with a nicer 18 inch fish. While he was bleeding his fish out, I took his spot at the stern and nailed my own 17 incher on my lightweight baitcaster...alot fun fighting keeper sized blacks with that...even 12 inch fish are fun with it.

As the morning wore on, the wind shifted SE and took us off the spot, so we decdied to head to 11B and try the tide change out there.

Got out to the parking lot and motored around until I found what I wanted...50 ft and rocky. Didn't see any action with the other boats going on so I had my doubts. Rob took care of the anchor again and we got on a nice part of the reef. AS soon as we started fishing, we were catching. Hungry fish were attacking our baits. If you weren't reeling up fish, you were rebaiting because you missed your chance.

Rob found himself a nice hole and managed 3 keepers as the tide picked up steam...16.5, 17 and 18 inchers we soon bleeding out in the bucket and put on ice. Tommy and I had some oh so close fish, but that was it for the keepers. We ran out of bait just as the building tide took us off the we called it a day and headed for the barn with the Sound now getting pretty flat.

Back at the house, the kids had fun with the fish before a few pics and then under the knife they went.

Hoping we get another shot at the togs before they take off....water temps was 53 degrees.

2 out of Rob''s 3
