After some question about whether we would sail, since conditions were a little rough early in the morning, we made it out and, although it was cold, it wasn’t too bad. However, this cold snap seems to have turned things on. Water temps dropped several degrees in the past few days, and that has made a real difference in the fishing.

Chris did a great job driving and putting us on a number of pieces, some very sticky, that were excellent. A few drops were lock and load every time you dropped down. Almost all good quality fish. I think everyone either limited out or came close. Also, some nice sea bass in the mix.

Because we fished some sticky pieces, we had a lot of break offs, so, I can appreciate the fact that the CQ provides free rigs and sinkers as part of the fare. That stuff can be expensive when we hit drops like we did today.

Mark, Dom and Alex worked the boat and did their usual outstanding job taking care of the passengers. You really appreciate how hard they work, and what fine service they provide, in cold weather like this.

All in all, a great day tog fishing with a nice group of guys who didn’t seem to let the cold weather bother them at all.

Looking forward to my next trip.
