After what seemed like an eternity, I was finally able to splash the AllyKat this sunday, but not before giving me one more thing to worry about.

Planned the sun am trip with Rob and Grover...sat night, went outside to run the motor so as not to wake anyone in the early am. She started up, but soon dies off when it got warm..frantic in the dark..started messing with the carb and choke. Called the guys and called the trip off when I couldnt get her running normally. Finally, a little cleaning of the electric choke connection and she was back to life..trip is on!

Got to the water after a stop for some fresh gas, and we found the ramp is half operational still..only one floating dock to use. So, we broke into the flat calm Sound at 7am and headed to Eatons, and anchored up around 13. Stayed there for about 45 minutes without a touch despite chumming. Pulled the hook and went closer in to the lighthouse trying for a shallow water bass...we had one quick runoff in another 45 minutes to go along with a huge Robin that liked bunker chunks.

Switched up and went fluking to the east. Not 100% sure about the motor, we didnt ventrue past the golf course. Found some rockin robins very shallow, and as we drifted deeper, the fluke made their way in. Soon enough, all three of us had our rods bent with either fluke or robins, big robins, short fluke. Rob broke the ice for first keeper of the year with a nice healty 20 incher that was bled and put on ice.

Very slow drift with the outgoing tide and SE wind..not wavy, just very slow which made the fishing slow also. We did end up with a couple of decent 13 inch porgies that came home with us.

Not pushing our luck, and fully drenched, we called it a day before noon to avoid any big slow downs at the ramp.

Boat ran great, the fish were biting, and 4 fresh fish sammiches for us...no complaints here.

No worries Drew, hopefully everything is worked out.

I have to agree with John, I think it will be a banner year. up

On a side note, bunker are around as are the yellow eyed devils. To me that means nice bass are in the hood. Wink
