Finally got out...aside from some downed tree branches, my property in Cutchogue was safe and sound. My son made it out for a well deserved vacation with his wife and 5 month old son. We hit the beaches on the Sound Sat, Sun, and today. (I tried the channel on the bay for a few minutes...water way too cold. Bay is shot till the spring.) Not much at all on the Sound. I think the hurricane sent the blues packing for the season. I had heard that schoolie bass had been in. Well, definitely not the incoming. Today we hit the outgoing, and had some fun. Still mostly dead, but when a school would come by, we had action. Basically, today was our only decent day. My son had 3 bass, I had 2, all on krocodile spoons. Both of us had 1 good size fish..about 26", maybe 6 lbs...otherwise they were about 18". We chunked waste. Not even crabs would touch it. Too bad...water was still a good temperature, and conditions were perfect. Had the pleasure of meeting Tom Schlichter on the beach, and overall, we had a great time.....but I think this is the end for shore fishing this season.
