Headed out Sunday with my friends Capt. Joe , John, and Mike on Joe's 29 Evergades "More Time". This would be Mike's first offshore trip and the plan was to troll for some bf do a little sharking and if time allowed hit a wreck on the way in.Hoping to get Mike some "firsts"

Dropped the lines in the Glory around 7AM and worked our way towards the chicken. No love for the first hour and 1/2 and then we got a knockdown on a rainbow spreader . Got Mike on the rod and he soon got his first bluefin ,after some high fives and a quick pic we reset and made another pass and had a dbl. 1 on the same rainbow spreader and the other ate a green machine spreader. Bookends @ 43". Made 1 more pass with no hits and moved on to sharkin'.

Conditions were not favorable with the slow drift but after about 2 hrs. with no bites and Capt. and crew grumbling about it getting late we tried a little power drifting and within a half hr. finally got bit and Mike soon had his first blueshark boatside for a quick release . I know the trip could have ended there and been a success , but we hit Capt. Joes favorite wreck on the way in and first drift Joe nails a fat cod around 20 lbs. followed by Mikes first pollock ( a short ) Set up again and Mikes rod startin boucing and he soon boated another pollock this one in the low teens . Made a couple more drifts with little to show until Mike hooked an absolute mule of a fish which we believe was a jumbo pollock that he couldn't slow down and eventually broke off in the wreck . Great trip all around !

Nice job on the mixed bag of offshore delights.

My biggest fear is that when i die my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said i paid for it.
