Took the kids out the last two evenings to the beach in the state park. Tried for Porgies. First night, one BIG hit on one of the rods, but the drag was too tight so the hook straightened. Nothing else except a spider crab. Next night, one sea robin (bait was bad quality). The tide was low so few if any fish were around. I learned that lesson now: always fish the high tide on that beach.

I loved the friendliness of the other surf fishermen. Nice to meet you Sal and thanks for the advise on placing the striper rod far away from the water so I won't lose it. Also, kudos to the older gentleman with the waders and the fly rod. I am envious you caught a 60 from the beach in Martha's vineyard. I hope to catch one half that size sometime.
