Tough conditions this morning with the wind against the tide. Anchored up on the mussel beds outside of Port Jefferson.WHite caps at Old Field and in the middle of the Sound. Picked blackfish all morning long with lots of shorts(8 to 12 inches). Culled three keepers out of catch. Largest about 17-inches. There were about 10 boats there including the Osprey.
The fish bit best about an hour before high and just as the ebb started. Current ran hard after that and was using 12-oz to hold bottom.
Took a while to get the anchor loose but she finally broke free. Headed to B11 to jig. Very slow. DId not see any fish boated.
Headed for home about 12:30. May try one more time on Sunday. Thanks to Candy and Tim at Caraftis for still having bait available. The crabs worked great!
