Got to spend Father's Day weekend out here, mainly so I could fish. Hit the Bay Saturday and Sunday, from 4:30-6:30 AM, great moving outgoing tide, perfect conditions. Nothing....not a tap. I saw 1 or 2 isolated splashes both mornings, but no evidence of bunker. While its great to have an entire beach to yourself, its also an indication of how good the fishing has been......I picked up some bunker from Captn Marty's, and asked Phil if it was just me...but he confirmed that its been a slow season. Luck changed when I hit the sound from 7:30-9:00 pm. Got 7 blues, lost 2. One was nice, about 3 lbs..the others were the smallest blues I've ever caught on the sound, barely even a lb. Still, it was lots of fun to finally catch fish again. Surprisingly few people fishing, not many other people catching anything, although I saw some tiny fluke being brought in and sent back. Action slowed down after sunset. Was going to use the bunker late night, but was just too tired. But, fish or no fish, it was great being out there.
