After a long work week, I was finally able to get out at a decent time on memorial day and had nothing else on my mind but fishing. Acually worked out pretty good because the girlfriend wanted to go to the beach and lay out or whatever they do. Hit the suds at the end of outgoing. Set my girlfriend up with a baitstick while I threw some lures. Tried a few plugs and tins for about an hour and a half for nothing. Switched to a heavier diamond jig, and bamm! Second cast caught a little 20" Striper. Took some pics and sent it off. Very next cast nailed another schoolie. While im ripping in my 24" Striper I notice my girlfriend is yelling at me with her rod bent. She starts yelling " a shark, a shark". Must be a bluefish I thought. Was suprised when she pulled in a 3 foot smooth (or spiny?)dogfish in the middle of the day. The beach goers around us were terrified, I thought it was hiarious. By the time I was done helping her with her "shark", the school had moved and we packed it in an hour later.

This made my day, almost fell off my chair. People act like there aren't any sharks in these waters, and the thing non the less. Good job on the schoolies. Those are always fun to catch. FISH HARD, TIGHT LINES.
