Got out there at 10am with some clam, tubes, Gulp Shads and new Penn Battle 5000. Decided to work closer to the ocean. Water was dirty but also pretty lively. Saw some horsecrabs working on reproduction near sure and caught several of them (not in compromising positions lucky). Also hooked up with a few short Fluke on the Gulps and had some hits on clam but couldnt keep anything hooked.

So i like the Battle so far but being quite a newb with it, i wouldnt open the "flip" part far enough so had several cast that it snapped back and lost a few rigs that way DOHHHHHH!!!!!!! On the whole really enjoyed it over my old Spinning Reel. Just gotta make sure its OPENED completely before i cast :) But in all it goes pretty well with my 12' Penn Spinfisher.

It's probably better to take the bail trip out. I did that on my sargus which is similar to the battle. Nothing worse than losing rigs.

Did that on my Battle. I do that to all my reels for added security. Sucks to lose a plug because of a flipped bail. Mad

it does get irratating counting the money flying off not attached anymore lol... i'll probably just go back to locking the flip with my middle finger since my hand is big enough for make it a non issue and i got use to that when my other reel started going on me
