ROUGH ocean today. Heavy NW wind gusts to 30 mph at least. BUT I managed 3 shorts & 6 Keepers to 4 lbs 10 oz (weighed on digital scale) ORL. Not a fabulous day but, Better than sitting home on day off and last day of tog season!

I just missed the pool by a lb maybe 1 1/2 lbs? Fairly close no big slobs today. As you might imagine the bite was off and slow. 3 drops all day, 1st 2 drops did NOTHING for whole boat.

Some fun & excitement for me was that I used my new tog bullet jig to catch 1 short and 2 keepers in about 85 ft of depth! I went to the 2 oz size, and still employed my 6-12 lb test 7 ft St. Croix spinning set up with the Penn 260 slammer!!! This is the DEEPEST depth that I've jigged tog so far and they bit the jig when nothing much else was raising fish.

Guys were amazed that I could stay down that deep with weight so light, and catch fish too!!! Especially fishing with light spinning set up,...it turned a few heads so that was fun! the conditions were about the WORST you could get for trying to employ this application, but I really enjoyed that it still worked fairly well so deep!!!

On a nice day I think the jig still might have the power to bang up the fish even in the deeper water after this experience.

I think according to what Capt. Greg said,...the water temp is dropping very quickly with the deep freeze that's set in. Any future action may just end even before it begins with the tog reopening in mid Jan.

My friend Tom lives out east in the GSB area and he sent me pics of his canals totally iced in,....NOT GOOD.
