Fishing method Surf
« Previous Report Next Report »

Hey Guys Well Not much to do there, while I am alone with my parents just chilling. So I basically Hit the Pier/beach/surf everyday.

Sunday was on fire with Non Stop Cocktail Blue action. They have a limit 12"s In length and only allowed to keep 10. I had atleast 60. Gave some away and enjoyed fishing. They use These lures made by Gotcha. Tsunami Makes them also. Orange Head white/yellow bodies. they zig/zag in middle to top of water column.

Mon/tues was a Blow out with the wind and ruff seas. they kinda like it when it is Shallow and calm. Wensday of course the day Im coming home was Fire. We had non stop action with whiting, lady fish, blue fish, and Sharks!!! Gotta love the sharks

So Wensday I set up to see if I could catch another Shark. I was using Grandpas Pole. Had to be 30 years old. Made by Olympic. And its Graphite, 3 taped on guides all rusted out. Put the VS100 on her with 150yrds of PP 40lb. a size 2/0 hook with cut mullet as bait.

Rod was sitting out and all of ours. Seen a shark lurking near the pier looking for a free meal. So I said look everyone. he didnt hit nothing, not one of our poles. So I reeled in casted out aagain and BAM!! I thought it was the shark. Nope a whiting. SO I rebait and cast out. Getting close to leaving time!

So then My buddy says you got one, you got one, Pole starts going up and down...... then I hear the noise I have been waiting for ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Shark or big fish we all said..... Now I was tightening the drag as he was Running with the wolves ahahha.... I was going nuts. The pole held on and we had a nice fight!!! it was a 3.5 ft Bull Nose Shark!! Awesome Fight and awesome run!!

I took some pics of the fish as the guy wanted to keep and make shark steaks out of it. I took one for the house and gave teh rest of it to the locals. It was awesome to watch. A buddy caught one and it Tore his Metal liter like it was Mono. I couldnt believe my eyes!

All in all a great trip, but next time I will be setup the correct way with the correct stuff. I just had some knick nacks and had some fun. But all in all It was a great time!

Shark regulations in Florida for that shark is a minimum length of 54 inches. That shark the locals kept was a short.

FEDERAL SHARK FISHING REGULATIONS Plenty of locals up here dont know ^&%$ either. You caught it on your pole, so that fish is your responsiblity. Even if you give it away it was in your possession. Just saying buddy. Fork length is to the middle of the split in the tail where the upper and lower lobes meet. 54 inches. Period, yes there are many species of sharks, but the regulations are the same.
