Guys,

I am the guy from Upstate that wanted to give striper surf fishing a try when visiting my mother in law in Bayshore. Fished RM2 on Wednesday. Was told by locals that you need an overnight fishing permit and that I was lucky I did not get a ticket. Next few days I went to RM5. Nothing on Friday at RM5 between 5 and 8 AM with no wind when I took my 5-year old boy. Saturday got to RM5 at 5 AM with my 7-year old boy. Wind howling with strong current. I finally caught my first ever striper (22 inch) from the surf on a A27 with green tubing. Guy next to me had one too.

Thanks to the guy on Wednesday that hooked my line and gave me my rig back that I lost an hour before. Thanks to the guy on Saturday that told me the dome light in my car (silver minivan) was still on. Saved me from calling AAA for a boost. And thanks to all the guys that didn't mind talking to me and help me catch my first surf striper. Next time, I will try for a keeper size.

Too bad you werent visiting a week earlier. Fishing was pretty good...now most seem to be off in the deeper water.
