Report location New York > North Shore > CELTIC QUEST SLOB TOG!!!
Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

Fished aboard the big CQ today on the Jayfish charter with Capt.Desmond at the helm and Capts.Paul and Tommy working deck.Today finally felt like tog season with a good Northwest blow and dropping tempatures.Des left dock early today to hit some of his rock piles way,way to the east and we were not disapointed. We had a quality pick all day but Capt Des had to make many drops to put the catch together. The fish were still shallow in 20 to 60 feet as the water is still warm. There were about 85 plus tog caught on the day with many quality 5-7 lb fish and a few 8 and 9 lbers with one real slob caught on the day.Yours truly had the honors of getting the big mahuska chin that went 12lbs 12 oz.I finished the day with 4 tog all good size of 5,6,8.5 and 12.75 lbs.A great day on the sound with the Celtic quest crew was had by all onboard.Incredible job by Capt Des and mates Tommy and Paul, they were always ther when you needed them.If it wasn't for Paul scooping up the big bruiser with 1 quick swoop I probably would have lost the trophy tog as the line parted quickly after the beast was onboard.

With some cool temps coming and a few days of wind the little deeper pieces should start to load up.The good fishing will only get better in the next few weeks,so Give the CQ A CALL AND GET OUT ON TOG TRP!!!

Many Thanks to John Viola for setting up the trip and the Celtic quest for making the catching of this slob possible.

Here are a couple of pics of the slob!
