Finally made it out again. Last night was buggy hell, yet again. Got a dozen bluefish, all really small...3/4-1 lb in size, more typical of mid July than mid-June. Finally saw bunker....they came in around the time the bluefish quit, turn of the tide just after sundown. Nothing feeding on them...tried chunks till 10:30 with no luck. Are the big bass still around? At dawn there were no blues, but I got 2 schoolies. Best news...the shore was packed with baby blue claws..many always in view...this could be the best summer for crabs yet...I've never seen so many this time of year...should be keeper sized in about a month or so.

The big bass have gone on to deeper waters. The bunker never really came in to keep them here. They were feeding on sandeels, killies and shiners the whole time. Next year....

Last post correct.......unlike last year, not a lot of bunker, so bass feeding on plenty of other bait types out in the bay, but not much in the creeks. Crabs have been in heavy....all sizes, and plenty of offspring! I guess you take what the season has to offer.
