Insane Bite at Amagansett. Steady pick late morning on the end of the outgoing but then later at 3:30 to 5:30 @Atlantic Ave. beach it was phenomenal. I tallied 35 bass and one hefty blue when I stopped counting. At least 3 keepers but small 29-30 inches so all fish released. I saw a couple of decent keepers taken off the beach one 20 plus pounds.

All on Ava with chartreuse tube which leads me to believe they are still on small bait of some type. These fish are on the feed and moving West.

Montauk Point and town beaches were very quiet. Perhaps the fat lady has sung at the Light and these Amagansett fish are the bulk of the migration. Next stop Shinnecock?

Tried some bigger patterns to see if I could scare up some bigger fish but no takers. On the word of more than one local resident. This time of year you won't be ticketed but don't ever try to park here in season. Just be respectful. Don't block access to beach. Don't drive on beach without an East Hampton permit. Don't drink beer or leave garbage. Maybe even pick up a piece of trash on your way out and give other fishermen the courtesy of at least 100 feet. The fish are in the wash up and down the beach so there's no reason to crowd anyone. Great day fishing.

Great report, and a helpful reminder to show some etiquette while representing the sport.

Damn fish

I got there later morning just after low but I heard there were a couple of decent fish early. But when I first looked @Atlantic there was no one on the beach, but when I headed West to the beach on the other side of town(?) it was happening there. At dusk it seemed to be centered around Atlantic(or at least that's where I was picking them up) It was like every 2nd to third cast for like two hours. The thing about these fish is that there is really little if any surface activity to be seen but they're just on the bottom gorging on sand eels and that's one reason why the jig and tube(fairly deep) is so effective.
