Can't shake the skunk!!

Usually don't chase reports but it's been a rough fall for me. Got down to Jones field 6 at 6:00 a.m. Bottom of the tide and cold as hell. My line was freezing to the guides in 26 degree air and 20+ mph winds.

At about 6:30 i look east and see thousands of birds between Jones 6 and Tobay. I drive about a mile pull over walk over the dunes and it's like I'm in the middle of the movie BIRDS. Screaming and diving everywhere from the wash out about 1/4 mile. No visible bait, and I threw everything I had for 45 minutes without even a bump.

10 years of pretty hardcore surf fishing and this was the most birds in one place I've ever seen, combined with the most miserable conditions I've ever fished in.

MY SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO YOU. aLTHOUGH i FISH MAINLY FROM BOAT, AT THIS TIME OF YEAR WE ARE USUALLY JIGGING FISH ALONG SOUTH SHORE BEACHES ON A DAILY BASIS. tHE WEATHER DOES NOT ALLOW FOR US TO GET OUT THE INLET. tHIS HAS BEEN THE CASE FOR OVER A WEEK NOW, AND THE FORECAST DOES NOT LOOK TOO ROSEY.mmmmmmm. First snow fall usually marks the last of the fall migration. Lets hope not.. Tight lines and stay safe out there.

i hope that was sarcastic... the man didnt catch anything, so what exactly did he burn? the fact that there were no fish? i guess if your looking for keeper gulls thats the place to be...and for someone bashing people on their reports, report chasing, and spot burning (i saw a few comments with you name), you sure do spend alot of time looking at reports yourself...hmmm, makes you wonder

Spot Burning???

Spot Burning???
He was fishing between Jones 6 and Tobay. Not exactly a spot. Besides, thousands of people drive past that area everyday. So it's not much of a secret.

I agree. Anyone worth their surfcasting salt knows that "between Tobay and Field Six" is not a "spot". You work hard, find a piece of structure, a deep hole, a drop off at the edge of a bar, a point etc that is holding fish, ON A PARTICULAR TIDE, WIND, MOON etc, now that's a spot.

RE: Tony9244

Don't listen to this guy!!!!

This guy hasn't a clue. Spot Burning? It's Jones for god's sake. I think that this guy is full of it, he probably doesn't catch fish...ever...

You guys want to laugh...Look at this guy's comment on yesterdays report by Striper511, it's called "all Over", fire island.

Better yet look at his posts, just click on his name. What a jerk!

I knew we had some real jerks on this site, but this guy might take the cake! We should give him the noreast jerk of the Year award.

Hello,
My name is Henry. I was up to Jones Beach Piers last weekend. I live in vt. My brother in law had a Knights of Columbus cerimony in his honor so I drove down and spent 2 days.
Tried fishing the piers both early and late. No luck. Used bombers, surface plugs.
Went to Long Beach around Neptune Ave. area and it was like a hurrican there. Couldn't cast.
Can you tell me where you guys walk to the jetties and Jones 6/Tobay?
I come down every now and then and love surf casting.
Had a great time this past summer catching snappers at the piers both at Jones Beach and Magnolia piers. Lots of different fish at Magnolia Piers.
Hope you can help me out. I am registered as a member here but can't find my user name pad with all my user names. LOL.
Anyway, on Yahoo,,,ohenryd,,, msn,,,lisisksa,,,,aol ohenryd,,
If you're on give me a shout.
my email is [email protected]
Thanks

Henry

Anyone help me?  I love surf fishing.  I fished Jones Beach areas alot during the summer.  Where is this Jetty and Sand Bar I keep hearing about..And ROCKS
Thanks
Henry
