Today marks a special moment in my retired life, the day I landed my 100th and 101st striper for the 2014 season. In all my years fishing, I've yet to record that many fish in a season. The larger fish is #100 caught, 31st keeper, and was almost a "too big throw back," as she was 25.5" long and 8 lbs, just keeping her in the 20 - 26" slot. Although she was the 2nd biggest fish I caught this year, her fight was meager at best, and at a "per lb" level, she was probably fish #101 in terms of fight. Number 101, the fish featured in the video fought with more tenacity than it's older sister!

In the number are some "Firsts." First fish (keeper too) on a fly rod, and multiple fish off my kayak including keepers, for the first time ever. All fish caught on artificials, and 90% on Creek Chub Striper Strike poppers, my all-time favorite lure, the lure in the video and a lure that's almost as old as I am, debuting int 1959..

Now to work on 200 for the season.
