Report location Western CT > Capt. Wylie Puts His Clients on Some Big Bass
Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

My son, Capt. Wylie, is a captain this summer on Pelagic Beast Charters in Norwalk and Stamford, CT. Saturday night he ran a trip for an important client and his buddy. The trip was an overnighter starting at 10:30 pm.

Capt. Wylie chose his spot carefully and stuck with it. No bites for the first 1 1/2 hours. Then first to hit was a nice 15 pound bass. A little bit later, one of the rods had a sizzling run. My son picked it up and set the hook, handing it off to the Big Kahuna. The rod arced way over. This was a big fish. After a tough fight, the fish came boatside. The net was much too small for this fish, and Capt. Wylie gaffed it and brought it aboard. The beast was enormous, taping out at 47 inches. The fish weighed 47 pounds at the dock and is being mounted at the taxidermist.

The night wasn’t over. The clients nailed another two big bass, a 43 inch fish and a mid 20 pounder. They called it quits around 5 am.

A great time for all on Pelagic Beast Charters.

Smallest bass here is 15 pounds

The big fish of the night - 47 pounds - is the biggest bass we've ever caught in LI Sound.

Nice striper. Capt. Wylie is working with a terrific team in Jason. I've fished with them many times and always had a terrific day on the water. Anyone interested in a great charter in Western LIS should look up the PB boats.

Big bass

I know Capt. Wylie was in NY when he gaffed that big striper...since it is illegal to use a gaff on any sized striper in CT. Not sure its legal to bringing a gaffed striper back to port in CT.......I guess you would have to bring that up with the DEEP...tight lines and keep your nets full!!!!
