Winter is coming, so I would like to add some insulation to my waders which is designed for summer time. I am not sure what to buy - a classic pressed wool or a modern multilayer synthetic materials like RadianTex?

Ebay sells both for ~25$...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Boot-liners-824BB-826BB-75-Pressed-Wool-/270829829269?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item84b8d29549

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Boot-Liners-AK80-3-layers-protection-/280457096603?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item870ac7bfae

So what is the best if I am going to be in the water ~4 hours continuously?

Try these, if your wader boot is big enough, these will be comfortable, and warm.

Patagonia DAS Parka & micro puff pants

go to patagonia.com & check the clearance section.
the DAS parka & micro puff pants are synthetic down. they work when wet!
They are surplus from the Afghanistan war, it gets very cold there.
the top & bottoms weigh less than 3 pounds.
It's basically a sleeping bag you can walk around in. the hood is sick!
They come in OD green.

Keeping warm in waders that are made for warmer conditions:

Feet - A GOOD pair of WICKING trek or ski socks. Really cold - add a pair of liner socks under the ski socks.

Legs - 1st layer - Sport weight SILK long johns.
2nd layer - Under wader pants OR really cold, strech ski longjohns.
Last layer - Fleece wading pants.

Core - Sport weight SILK turtle neck as base layer. Add more layers as needed. (I use Duofold trutlenecks and/or fleece pullovers.)

Head - Good wool watch cap OR Wind Bloc fleece balaclava.

FYI Sierra Trading Posthas most or all of the above a really good prices!

I'd rather be fishing!
