Hey everyone,
Heard the new penn conquer spinning reel is a great reel. Heard it has a smooth drag, and is pretty tough for it size and weight. Has anyone used this reel yet?? And if so, have you used braid....any problems with the braid???? I'm looking toward the 4000 or 5000 series. Anybody have any comments on this reel that has tested it out on some fish? I want this reel for plugging from a boat for bass, blues, and albies. Please give me some feedback....would appreciate it!!!

And any other suggestions if not for the penn conquer.....Quantum Cabo? Shimano Stradic?

my buddy just picked one up. He's going to try it on the beach this weekend. I will handle it for a while just to see how it feels hopefully with a fish on. I will get back to you..I hope with a little info.. also my other fishing buddy recently picked up the cabo 80..kinda big but we will see how it performs. I will keep you updated..tight lines.

The Penn is really new so its hard to say, but there is one review on surftalk where the anti reverse died on day one. The Stradic on the other hand is a proven winner,Ive loved mine for many years and have never heard a bad word about them.I have been fishing a Penn sargus for 2 years and I'm still impressed with it.Never fished a cabo.

The Conquer seems to be getting pretty solid reviews. The only negatives I am hearing are coming from hard core surf guys. Seems like there is concern over the service hatch. I handled one at a Bass Pro Shops in FL, and it seemed like a well built reel.

Impressive pics! I have handled it in the store. 10 berings and HT-100 drag to boot. It seemed realy thought out and well built.

penn conquer spinner..cabo 80..

My buddy fished the Conquer 7000 on the beach friday night. he caught blues and a keeper striper..he said the drag was very smooth and he had no trouble cranking them in.. my other buddy fished with the cabo 80. again he said the drag was very smooth. I took turns between both reels cranking in a couple of nice blues and agree with there opinions. both reels have very smooth drags. it was reel easy to crank'em in. in the long term we will wait and see how they hold up. hope that helps a little..tight lines. p.s. I fished my new shimano bait runner 8000D. also very smooth..

Thanks so much for the feedback guys....I really appreciate it....I'm really leaning toward the penn conquer, hearing great stuff from it and it really looks like a great product, I'm gonna purchase me a 4000 series
