Is Steve open yet? Anyone know the status?

Steve didn't want to renew his 2 year lease on the shop, and I believe it's up for grabs right now. Hopefully someone picks it up, or there's another half hour added to my trips just for bait...

Bummer

Looks like we'll be tripping down to New Rochelle.

Yup. Gonna have to drive past boat to get bait until it shows up en mass. What a pia. Ill be surprised if it ever opens again. Tough business to make money in.

It was very tough for Steve the last 2 years, so I can't say i'm surprised that he isn't opening back up. I know the town is also not very fond of the idea of a bait shop there. Real bummer, that's gonna add a lot of time onto my trips down

I heard tell that Pat of Island Bait & Tackle in City Island is going to take this over and have his son run it. But nothing seems to be happening.

That would make sense as Pat was always delivering bait, but he seemed to always be on the run. Im down at the harbor now and the shop hasnt been touched.

Hey guys...this is terrible news i put the boat in yesterday and was wondering why the shop was all closed up. That shop was so convenient with the boat right there...I know that gas dock headed out of the harbor has some frozen bunker but does anyone know of any other alternatives ? I am new to boating this area

Plan B is Pet Planet and Hudson Park B&T in New Rochelle.

The gas dock in mamaroneck sells bait and tackle. Mamaroneck boat and motors. Scotty the ownwer will order you fresh bunker if you need it. Just tell him a day before. Rest of the bait he has is all frozen.

Can anyone explain why the town wouldn't be fond of a bait shop there? Would they rather that all of us that have boats in the area take our money and spend it in other towns? For that matter, maybe we'll take our boats and thousands of dollars a year we spend in town elsewhere too?

Honestly I've been thinking the same thing. I heard they think it will attract more people to harbor island without the b&t shop and the fishing scene, but who the hell do they think they're selling all their boat slips to? Confused
