Asians

Find a beach with plenty of Rocks, turn them over and there they will be. Go to Inshore Tackle and Techniques with Lep, see Inshore--> Bay Area--->BLACKFISH scroll down to Crabman1130 second post and see the video MOJOE made. Not sure about a trap for Asians?

Same here...
a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. With a buncha air holes on the side and two or three 1"-2" holes on top, or a minnow trap with the entrance widened a bit to fit the crabs.

A regular mesh trap designed to catch killies/minnows works fine for getting Asian crabs. These are the two piece 18" basket type traps with a hole at both ends. Just put a fish rack inside and you`re good to go.I`ve been told that turning over rocks to get crabs is a definite ticket from the DEC because you are disturbing the environment.

Crabs

The DE no C would have actually be out doing some enforcement. There not out stopping people for shorts , no less breaking people's chops for flipping some rocks for crabs..............

I just stopped in to say hi to Mark at Cow Harbor B+T in Northport. He had just gotten in some beautiful asian crab traps.
