I have the Avet mx mc very nice reel bought it for my kayak and occasional boat reel decided to buy a conventional rod for the surf. Always used spinners so was a little nervous about the birds nest so far so good and I use braid. Very pleased with it thinking of getting next size bigger

Get a conventional rod for it, beautiful reel deserves better than a spinning rod lol

Is there a such thing as an 11ft or 10'9 conventional surf pole

Not only is there such a thing,...

There are many such things. I suggest when you buy the Avet, you also buy the rod. This way you can match it up right there and get something you will be comfortable with and suitable for the type of fishing you anticipate using it for.

Have an Avet SX on a convention Boat rod one Capt.Neil made for me this reel is built like a Tank you can Crank the drag I think up to 14 to 17 lbs but I do not do that. I love this little reel, the Clicker is LOUD as hell like the old Penn Senators I love that sound. Would recomend this reel to anybody Fells like they are indestructible

upup AVET !!!

Ive done quite an amount of research on AVET and im highly impressed with there craftmenship and quality of there product. This is what turned me on to them and made me want to get started in conventional surf casting, im just lost oh how to pair the reel to the rod or how big to go with the rod

I have a an Avet SX MC in the left hand retrieve model, color blue - I had to pay an extra $50 to get a blue LH retrieve model. Its a decent reel but a bit overpriced($250), the West Coast guys love them but to tell you the truth I'm more impressed with the old Penn 525 I picked up off of fleabay last month, it was less than $100 and casts further than the Avet - people seem to think the Avet MC's are distance casting machines but they really aren't, their more of a tamed reel that will allow you to cast a conventional without the worry of getting birds nest/backlashes. I have tried several different braided lines on this reel and they all seem to cut/dig into the spool, I just bought some 80lb power pro and I'm hoping this will help the line digging into the spool problem.

I have my SX paired up with a Solaris Surf 11' rod and also a 9' Longitude Surf rod both made by Okuma and they both balance out nicely.

You are not getting 40lbs of drag from a regular Avet SX model more like 12 to 14 lb ish.The Raptor SX will be around 26 lbs
