goin down to jamacia in a few weeks. i plan on bringing my travel rod, and maby a jigging rod for yak fishin. any suggestions on what to use? bucktails, tins...???? stayin at the ritz, and from the photos it looks like they got a jetty! the rent yaks too

I always carry a few bucktails and gulp where ever I go on "non fishing" trips with the family. up

The fishing in Jamaica is not great. I wouldn't even say it's mediocre. The reefs near shore have been heavily fished out, and if you dive there, you'd see the fish traps down below that are filled with only Sergeant Majors. No big predators.

I'd leave the rods, and focus on enjoying the relaxed vacation.

^^ agreed. The few times I went there I tried from the shore and had little to no luck. I took a wood boat out with another local to fish the local reefs and there was very little action... I've tried in Montego, Negril and Ochos Rios...
