Anyone been out lately? We got some nice bass in Montauk 2 weeks ago, i shot my persoanl best 45.1# and rob got a 46.8#. we were surrounded by thousands of bass, all between 30-50# it was unreal, video to come in a few weeks. Saw some 50#+ but couldent get a good shot. We dropped some live porgies into the school and they didnt get touched...

I hit the northshore after work last week, dove old field at low tide, vis was about 8-10'. Saw some tog and small bass, practiced some stalking techniques. Theres a long overgrown ghost trap running east-west, had about 1.5" of growth on the rope and trap.

Did some freediving in the delaware river over the weekend, saw some cool stuff, definitely a different environment. Caught some smallies with the R&R.

Heading to MTK wed-sun, hopefully we have some favorable conditions. Looking for that 50#+.

ponquogue last wed

sweet job on those bass! i saw 3 blackfish at least 8lbs at the bridge, out of season kept my finger off the trigger. quick peek at a nice striper which saw me as i saw her and with a flash she was gone. usual sea bass small and some nice sized bergalls. decent number of divers for a wed 10 a.m. high slack i think i saw 6. i was out in the canyon sat but didnt get a chance to jump in, saw a few triggers under various floating shelter.

perilous though she may be, always drawn to the sea....

How deep?

Hey congrads man,

How deep where you guys diving? I been trying to find a good place for spearfishing in NY and I haven't had any luck. I went to a Wading river beach in LI and the water was too murky. Any suggestions?

Montauk south side

Walked down the cliffs to Caswells on Wednesday and kicked out on the boogie board diver rigs and searched for the big guys. We didn't see any fish other than scup until we headed back in. With about 6 inch vis, we were in a school of 20-30 lbers. The sound of the Big tails was making my trigger finger itch and it finally cleared out to 3ft vis when we nailed some fish.. 25 and 31.
I make it back to the beach over the little waves and slippery rocks with my fish and gear but my buddy's stringer line snapped and his bass was in the wash! He was waving me over so I knew he lost something so I ran over and jumped back in the junk and eventually found his fish flopping around in the waves. He was damn lucky because he didn't brain the fish and it was half alive!
I'm free Sunday if the conditions are good!
Cheers, Jimmy

What is wack is your post....Have you ever tried to spear a bass???...I think not...if you did you would realize how hard it is to first find then stalk and hope a fish gets within shooting range..

BTW..Great job on those fish fellas!!!!upup Awesome!!
