Welcome to the Bounty Hunter running report. This year we are offering 2 vessels, the 12 man boat did not arrive as expected, but might be here in time for tuna and tile season. So for the time being we have 2 six passenger vessels, the Bounty Hunter and the Kelly J. The Kelly J will sail with a minimum of 4 passengers and a max of 6 passengers @120 a head. The Bounty Hunter will continue to sail as a full fare charter as ususal. The addition of the Kelly J helps those groups that can't just get 6 guys to agree on a date. Plus 4 or 5 guys fit into one car. For more info check out our website www.fishbountyhunter.com or call 508 748 3474
Thanks Capt. Eric

stellwagon cod and haddock 4-18-09

With the crazy weather and last minute fixes to the boat we only got to the bank twice, Fri 4-17 will go down as the poorest day of stellwagon fishing I have ever seen, anyone out there that day will agree, we ended up with a handfull of haddock. Sat 4/18 Dennis from Olde Salt Tackle brought up two guys and the other half of the trip pulled a no show, so we went with 3, and as you can see in the pic we mopped up the haddock, that was a party of 3 that caught that mess of haddock in 190 ft of water on the anchor on some fresh clam bellies.

Big E, Rodney, Raymond and crew from the long pole fishing club had the boat today, The blackfish would not cooperate,it might have been the moon, lots of weed in the water very dirty. We did however find the first few sea bass of the year. Here is a pic of Big E with one.

5-12 /13 commercial scup and cbass

Today I did a commercial rod and reel trip to scout out the scup and cbass spots, looking for the schools of larger fish, we knocked out our 200lb limit in a little over an hour, with nice 2lb average scup. We also managed about 70 lbs of out allowed 100lb seabass quota. I have been fishing for these fish for 2 weeks, I KNOW were to bang them up fast. There is limited space avalible for opening week on the Kelly J, the ONLY TRIP avalible on the Bounty Hunter is Sunday afternoon. Don't miss out on the HOT opening season ACTION. Remember to fish one of us LOCAL boats we will have you loaded up and on the way home before the out of towners even get on the fish.
Wednesdays Squid / wreck trip pulled a no show, so I Dont have a squid report.

OPENING DAY HARVEST OF PORGIES

Today we crushed the BIG porgies ( scup), there were fish up to 3 lbs. Came in early on BOTH trips with coolers chock ablock full of porgies and seabass. Thrown in was 2 keeper stripers around 34 inches, (one lost at boat). The group from FISHERMANS DEPOT left tonight with rear end of that (bookfishingtrips.com) van draging with all those coolers loaded up.
The KellyJ had one trip today, Capt. Vin says it was a nice mix of porgies and seabass, with a few keeper stripers thrown in.
The Kelly J is availible SUN morning and afternoon. She will sail with 4 people and up to 6, call for details 508-748-3474

Still working on replacing the camera after its fall, looking forward to post some pics of the action.

5-17-09 Porgy and Seabass Pics, Action is RED HOT, The LOCAL BOATS put YOU on the fish!!!!!!!!

The fishing has been RED HOT, we have been back to the dock early for all the trips so far, morning and afternoon. We have been loaded up to the top of the coolers, heading back home, picking up a second charter and starting to fish before the big "out of towner boat" have even managed a days catch. In the spring in Buzzards Bay big noisy metal boats with generators running is counter productive, the BIG fish are in shallow water and spook easy'ly. The smaller vessels are the ones that put a real hurting on the fish. Here are some pictures (taken with my phone, picking up a new camera today)

5-18-09

Both boats had double trips today, and the results were outstanding, even in the brisk NW wind the local boys can put you on the fish in confort, we were in 14 ft of water, and 400 ft off the beach, it was like a pond. The beauty of the 14 ft is two cranks of the reel and the fish is in the boat. These double trips are playing games with my mind, I left the camera on the boat, so tonight I will post 2 days worth of picutures, the scup today were the larger 2 to 3 lb class, and we saw sea bass to 4 lb and a 24lb striper. THERE is STILL avalibility on the kelly J for this weekend call 774 454 9179
