Hi,

That was quite a profound statement you made. Please expound upon the basis for your statement. An inquiring mind wants to find out what I may have missed. Must have been some good catches someplace.

oh boy here we go.....can't wait to see where this thread leads.

Yes one of the Captree Boats did catch some nice codfish offshore on a couple of trips....enough to have 3 or 4 boats sailing daily for cod? NOT. I don't think people would come down anyway, I would love if the cod truly made a comeback and people like Capt Paul could sail a few days a week and put a few bucks in his pocket...

Come on Jat, lay out a gameplan for the boats to make a few dollars.

cod

neil,

I am just glad to see a boat from Captree making an effort to fish for cod. Iam glad they have had some success and hope it leads to this fishery being an option. There are fish out there and hopefully they get full boats and good weather. I think December is a tough month because of the holidays but Jan-march I think fisherman will be looking for something to do and hopefully turn out

OK, I'll bite.

Would love to attempt a Cod trip out of Captree. I'm off from Christmas through 1/4. So if the weather looks good what boat(s)is/are sailing open for Cod???

And yes, its been about 10 years since I caught a 'hanger' on the Starstream (freeport) or Speedy (forget which one)

Thanks,
ML

Yup.
Me too.
I'm hopping to get on Speedy Express if they sail on 01/03/09.

I am thinking of taking my two kids this Friday out of captree and it's been years since I caught ling and a cod would be a bonus. I will take a look on this site for info, but I am thinking 3/0 reels with 40lb braid and momo leaders, or do most people stick with mono?

I also have some bridgeport and diamond jigs in the 8-14oz range and I will mimic others since I usually yo-yo for bass.

Does the boat have all bait or do I buy extra, and if so, what? gulp?

I guess a typical hi-lo or dropper loop type rig for the ling?

Just fishing for info.

Thanks

Bill
