- Police say the body of a woman was found wrapped in a blanket this morning on Sore Thumb Beach in the Town of Babylon.

According to police, the body was found in a vehicle they were searching, which may be related to a house fire early this morning in Lindenhurst.

Authorities say they discovered a man in the vehicle who appears to have attempted to take his own life.

Police confirm the vehicle is the same one missing from the house in Lindenhurst.

Police then issued a call for a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe. Pelkofsky said it was found on Sore Thumb Beach, west of Oak Beach, in the Town of Babylon.

He said the man in the Tahoe was found unconscious and police administered first aid. “He appeared to have attempted to take his own life,” Pelkofsky said.

The body of a woman was found wrapped in a blanket.

Police would not provide further details or identify the man and woman.

Good thing it wasn't a plover. Then they would have closed the beach.

I guess you are smarter than a darter. Someone is dead.
It appears, and I said appears, that he killed the woman, tried burning down at least one home, and then most likely tried to kill himself.

On Independence Day weekend, two plovers were believed to have been killed. They closed half the beach for that.

I didn't even see any crime scene tape here. That's a fact.

You might be right. YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID.

sorry "tater salad".

It's okay, I understand it's very hard for you to grasp my comments. Bird vs. human being, wow

I went past the thumb at about 2pm.... and it appeared as though it was closed down with Suffolk County Police blocking the entrance.

And I agree someone id dead......If it was my family attending a wake & funeral this week i wouldn't find the previous comments funny either.

The loss of any human life is regretable. All people deal with death in their own way. Ever been to an Irish funeral? I've been to two and I've never laughed so hard. This is how they deal with it. They get hammered and crack wicked jokes.

Personally, I can't imagine what kind of misery drives an individual to kill his wife / significant other, burn the house, then attempt suicide. This of course is entirely alledged, for you lawyers out there. Who knows what that guy was into. It is very sad indeed.

But in support of several of the posters, I offer this. Eisey is correct that two dead Piping Plovers with get more press and more action than two dead bodies. Why you ask? Humans are not an endangered species, at least not recognized as one anyway Roll

As for Charlietunas quip. I'm a musician and at one point in my past, an avid collector of guitars. Back in the late 60's and early 70's, when Vietnam was still on, I used to check the obits. You fill in the rest. Sounds heartless doesn't it. Well thank the society we live in for that. And yeah, I cried when Old Yeller got shot, balled my eyes out in fact.

Judge not too harshly, etc etc.
