Spoke with a women from the parks dept. ( very nice and informative) apparently a bird was found flattened in a tire track so federal mandated rules require a 35 day closure and possible fines. The fillet of plover was found on or about the fifth of June, which means the front side should re-open the week of the 11th. I'll believe it when I see it. Also they have been looking into the possibility of reopening of gilgo.

When I was talking to the parks dept. I asked what if they found one dead under a sunbathers sheet would they close down the bathing beach she said they would have to do something close part or all.

Rich as far as Gilgo goes they would love to open it but every moon tide and storm surge the water is up to the dunes. The best thing for that beach would be when the army corp dredges the inlet which is over due the sand will be dumped at Gilgo

When there is a storm surge they could close the beach just like they've done at other beaches around the island

Would be nice to have Gilgo open for some summer night chunking

How about some help on that Willy?
