The crowds caught up to us today. 38 people on deck. It was a great start to the morning we had around 15 keepers after the first few drifts but then we lost our tide and the light wind really held us up for the rest of the day. It was a pick of fish, ended up with around 50 for the day.(originally I reported the wrong number and was corrected by the crew. Not terrible but not what I would like to see on a day when there are so many mouths to feed. Hopefully we have a better drift tomorrow.

On our way back in from a SPECTACULAR day. Outgoing tide and wind with it in the morning made it very productive. Lots of nice healthy fish came up. Not crazy on the action but plenty of ooo's and ahhh's for the bigger fish keeps it exciting. Then came slack tide and the action slowed. Then came wind against and it got really slow. Few quality fish picked and some shorts. As we are made our "last"drift of the day we bagged 7 more keepers and great short life! How do you leave that? Answer is you don't. We put in the OT and put over 20 more keepers into the boat and bent the rods a little more and were on our way home with 62 keepers for 26 people. High hook was Brad Topper from the fisherman, Marc and Louis from Jersey each catching 7 keepers each! (Orl) pool was 6lbs

May. 17, 2013 7am

Today wasn't as good as its been. Big boat didn't drift as fast I would have liked and we picked at fish all day. People who worked light tackle and small bucktails and teasers did best. Those who dragged bait didn't do as well. Ended up with 45 keepers for the day up to 5lbs.

Very good fishing again tonite, started out a little on the slow side but once the ebb tide started the fishing improved to a steady pace of loads of jumbo shorts and a nice amount of keepers. Finished the night with a little shy of 40 keepers.

High hook was Paul with a limit and a few other anglers with 3 a piece. Bjorn won the pool with a nice fish around 6 lbs.

We will continue fluking on our evening trips until next friday the 24th when we will begin our porgy season at 4:30.

Don't forget, as always the pool winner on our opening night porgy trip wins 10 free half day trips along with the normal cash prize.

Sailing 7am full day fluke everyday

Captain Stew had the boat out tonite, good fluking again tonite. A light crowd enjoyed loads of action with the shorts and a good number of keepers going into the buckets, high hook with 3 keepers, also a few porgies took the fluke baits as well.

Sailing full day fluke tomorrow morning at 7am and then again at 4:30 tomorrow evening.

Don't forget we are starting our porgy season on friday night with our annual give away of ten free half day trips to the largest porgy caught.

MAY 21st

Fluke fishing this morning had some excellent moments with some definite moments of drifting and dreaming. Lots more action in the morning with a pic of keepers. Bucktailing was actually catching less keepers then dragging bait! Then in the afternoon we had a few solid drifts boating over 5 keepers each drift so numbers added up fast we fished a little late and had 34 keeper fluke and 2 dozen scup for 12 fisherman.

Another good day of fluking today. The day started out on the slow side with northeast winds and a decent sea to go with it. Shortly after we started fishing the wind shifted and then flopped out but the fluke just didn't seem to wanna bite, a few shorts here and a keeper there but nothing like it's been lately.

Kept moving around trying to find something to work on and as the day got nicer and the sun came out fishing seemed to get better and better. Put in some extra time since they kept biting to try and make up for the slow start to the day. Ended up with a pretty good day.

Jon and Will tied for high hook with 7 keepers each, ORL, and Scott getting a limit as well. The biggest of the day at around 5lbs. plenty of short action to keep the rods bent the second half of the day.

Sailing Full Day Fluke at 7am Monday through Friday
4:30 Porgy trips Begin this friday with the pool winner receiving 10 free half day trips.
Starting this weekend we will be sailing 7-11, 12-4 on weekends and holidays

Weather man scared away everyone with forecast of doom and gloom. 6 Hearty anglers showed up today ready to fish. We made a quick scup drop to fill the buckets fast and try out a honey hole we were hoping was filled with porgies! It most certainly was! We fished for under and hour now we have the fluke rigs on in hopes for some good fluke action.

FRIDAY night is our big porgy trip. We give away 10 free 1/2 day trips! Even if you don't win the fishing should be great so you will get many nice dinners. Port Jefferson porgies have begun!

2.5 knot drift made fluking today more than impossible! Only one keeper. Some times your the hydrant and some times your the dog. The savage scup bite we had this morning continues on tonight's trip. I made some last min. Phone calls and put together a nice little group of our die hard porgy fisherman and we are filling our coolers and buckets with fish!

Port Jefferson is turning into Porgy Jefferson!

Come out while the porgy fishing is hot!!!

Went out last night for our opening day scup. Winner of the big give away of the ten free 1/2 day trips was Mitch!! His sister was second and she also got a keeper bass! Fishing was excellent. At or near limit for most people.

Sailing daily as soon as this weather gets better!

Unfortunately with the winds no trips the last two days, just some maintenance and catching some bass at the dock off the back of the boat waiting for the wind to stop blowing.

Sailing at 7am, 12pm and 4:30pm tomorrow, can't wait!!!!

osprey V MAY 27 2013

7-11 Fluke: To put it in a nut shell it was not a good trip. Fluke fishing was extremely slow. Wind against tide, muddy water it wasn't a very good trip.

12-4 Combo : With how slow the morning trip was we started the trip with a scup drop to hopefully fill the buckets with some meat. That we did. It was a one drop bail job. Over flowed the pails with fish and had plenty of time to still catch 1/2 a dozen keeper fluke.

4:30-8:30: Just spoke to the boat. Captain Stew at the helm and he reports porgies flying over the rails! Shaping up to be another amazing trip.

James and I went out for a nice dinner and the famous Captain Stew crushed the porgies once again! Everyone at or near limit. Very good size pool fish was around 3lbs. IT'S PORGY TIME! Travis and the boys had to fillet tons of fish on the way home as spent a good amount of time filleting at the dock.

Get out here while the gettin is good and fill up your freezer !
